Summary:
Duties include but are not limited to:
scheduled/unscheduled aircraft maintenance on all aircraft systems; turbofan engine, airframe, flight control/landing gear rigging, troubleshooting systems, daily/turnaround inspections, perform corrosion inspections and related treatment, washing/cleaning, servicing aircraft fuel/oil/hydraulic/oxygen/nitrogen systems, Structural repairs and component in-house repair/back shop programs.
The aircraft mechanic reports to the Shift Lead Aircraft Mechanic.
Additional Duties:
o Maintains EC37B aircraft in support of aircrew missions.
o Launches and recovers aircraft, to include tie-down, cover, and plug removal/installation, and perform required inspections to ensure airframe structure and power plant serviceability.
o Adjusts, aligns, and calibrates aircraft components.
Performs functional checks of fuel, hydraulic, engines, avionics, and electro-environmental systems.
o Advises supervision of deficiencies affecting aircraft airworthiness.
o Performs scheduled and unscheduled inspections in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) established procedures/specifications.
o Prepares and maintains aircraft maintenance records and historical documents.
o Monitors/reviews deficiency reports for adverse trends.
o Uses applicable technical data/manuals when performing aircraft maintenance, and to troubleshoot aircraft/system discrepancies.
o Performs in-progress and follow-up inspections during and upon completion of maintenance actions.
Researches, orders and receives aircraft parts.
o Prepares parts for turn-in back into the supply system.
Initiates material deficiency reports as required.
o Inventories aircraft support equipment.
o Maintains hand and special tools in a safe and serviceable condition.
o Responsible for site, customer and company tool accountability procedures to include reporting unserviceable tools and equipment to appropriate responsible party.
o Annotates equipment/tools inspection and condition documents.
o Performs serviceability checks prior to operating powered and non-powered support equipment.
o Complies with established policies, procedures and standards.
o Assists other mechanics/specialists as required.
o Complies with all safety, environmental, security and housekeeping standards.
o Complies with training requirements.
o Assists in training newly assigned personnel as required.
o Operates vehicles, both special purpose and regular as authorized.
o Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention and safety at all times.
o Assists assigned personnel in researching and requisitioning aircraft parts and components and in determining the reparability and serviceability of these assets.
o Monitors bench stock items and tool inventory inspections.
o Actively participates in the Safety Program.
o Refers to hazardous material training and ensure HAZMAT processes are followed.
o Assists in aircraft movement flight line FOD prevention walks as required.
o Completes maintenance documentation using required forms.
o Services aircraft with fuel, oil, grease, hydraulic fluid, air, oxygen and nitrogen.
o Performs aircraft corrosion control procedures to include wash, wipe down, polish and vacuum.
o Discusses discrepancies with aircrews to secure adequate troubleshooting information and flight data.
o Other related duties as required to support contract and mission requirements o Maintain strict compliance with all required Communications Security (COMSEC) policies and procedures.
Required Education and
Experience:
Two (2) to six (6) years aircraft mechanic level experience to be considered.
Strongly prefer recent Gulfstream Global Jet, or business jet experience on civilian and military platforms including Rolls Royce turbofan experience.
o Current FAA A&P certificate required o Must be able to work shifts as assigned and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team if required.
CONUS and OCONUS deployment is required.
o Must be in good physical condition, and capable of completing/passing a required physical exam and CRC course prior to OCONUS deployment.
o Must be able to work in the established work/living environment, work shift schedules as assigned 7 days a week, 12 hours a day to support mission requirements.
o Experience in the use of common hand and special tools/testers as required for aircraft maintenance.
o Must have in-depth working knowledge of aircraft safety directives.
o Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
o Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
o Must have a current civilian drivers license, and be able to obtain and maintain a government flight line drivers license.
o Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim DOD secret government security clearance as a minimum prior to hire.
o Must have an in-depth knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations.
o Must have an in-depth knowledge of using aircraft technical publications-read, interpret, follow and basic comprehension of schematic diagrams, drawings, and charts.
o Must have a working knowledge (input and extract data) of maintenance database technology.
Physical Demands:
This maintenance classification activity is usually accomplished in a flight line-like environment with extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands.
May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50lbs.
Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close and peripheral vision, and acceptable depth perception.
Work Environment:
The diversity of working conditions range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc.
May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards exist.
